Mount Kilimanjaro national park is situated near Moshi city in the northern part of Tanzania, south of the Kenya border. The national park harbors the remarkable snow capped mountain Kilimanjaro which is the highest mountain in Africa standing at an elevation of 5,895 meters.

WILDLIFE

The park also harbors different animals including elephants, elands, bushbucks, leopards, hyenas, buffaloes, forest duikers, tree hyrax, aardvark, crested porcupine, primates like blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, baboons, bird species like narina trogon, rose turaco, African pygmy kingfisher, African pitta, silvery cheeked hornbill, white necked raven among others.

Mountain cycling

Summit bound visitors will use Kilema route (19 km) and porters will use the Marangu route a day in advance. Cyclists will meet their porters at Horombo. Porters are not allowed on this route.

For non summit bound visitors (Kilimanjaro National Park), cycling may start from Londorosi gate or from Morum Picnic site via Shira I to Cathedral then back to Morum picnic site via rescue road to Londorosi gate (44.7 km)
